MTA is a satellite TV network, runs and funded by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. MTA International was created by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, the fourth Khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, on 1 January, 1994 and ever since its inception MTA has been a unique channel in many respects. Its focus lies in producing programs that can be enjoyed by people of all ages at all times. It recognizes that television plays a significant role in the world and has accordingly devoted itself to applying this influence positively for the purpose of educating its viewers. Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad personally initiated new programmes and participated in countless broadcasts ranging from lectures, Dars, Question and Answers Sessions, the Holy Qura’an, to Homeopathy, from Arabic to French, from the young to the old,. He ensured that MTA sought to provide an education and training medium unrivalled in history. It was his vision of passion that turned MTA into a reality. In lamenting this channel, yet another Divine promised to Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah was fulfilled, “I shall carry thy message to the ends of the Earth.“ (Al Hakam, Vol II).
This Muslim transmitter radiates its program of London over satellite. In the initial phase MTA could be received only 5 hours daily in Europe, and is now since 1st April, 1996 is MTA International worldwide 24 hours to be received. This transmitter exclusively finances itself by the donations of its members. This is possible by honorary work of members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. A characteristics is the unkommerzeille function. All activities are implemented without assistance of television specialists honorary by members. That gained the necessary specialized knowledge auto didactically. MTA International consists of three channels and sends a multicoloured mixed program with the emphasis on transmissions of religious contents, with which the mirror-image-ritual and moral development of the municipality is to be supported. The transmissions are produced in the whole world and often sent in different languages over seven different audio channels (e.g. English, Urdu, German, Arab, Bangla, French, Turkish, and Indonesian among other things). MTA International intended to the Islamic teachings understanding and offers the dialogue between religions. MTA offers quality family viewing right across the globe. It broadcasts internationally in up to eight languages simultaneously and features programs focusing on the different cultures of the world and the environment in which they exist. MTA has also kept pace with technology and broadcasts in both analogue and digital. MTA features many thought provoking discussions and programs on the issues of great relevance to society, with some of MTA’s programs being unmatched in their high level of quality.
MTA International is the first non commercial Islamic Television station, which is to be received worldwide 24 hours. This is one the channel which doesn’t allow any activities which is Un Islamic hence is named as “First Islamic Channel”. MTA ‘s future is not dependant upon commercial sponsorships or license fees, thus allowing it to concentrate on producing a variety of programs on a range of subjects for its viewers around the world, without sacrificing standards. The programs have however not only religious, but also cultural contents. These include subject matters such as International news, sports, science, medicine, alternative therapies, learning languages, children’s shows, documentaries, travel and religion. MTA broadcasts its state-of-the-art digital service throughout the world from satellites. The UK is served by two channel on the SKY network. The transmission contributions are provided by members in non-profit work (Waqar-e-Amal). MTA (Muslim Television Ahmadiyya) emerged with the aim of providing a positive alternative in the broadcasting world. MTA involves itself in all aspects of television from production through to transmission. It uses state of the art equipment in filming, editing and enhancing its programs. MTA remains at the forefront of the television industry with most of its broadcast being in digital. It also seeks to promote new talent and explore new ideas.
